Lupinus Westcountry™ ‘Terracotta’: The warm and sophisticated elegance of the summer garden
The Lupinus Westcountry™ ‘Terracotta’ is a majestic and floriferous perennial plant , belonging to the famous Westcountry™ series, renowned for its intense colors and exceptional floriferousness. This variety stands out for its spectacular spikes in warm shades of copper, apricot, and cream , forming a refined floral sculpture at the heart of flowerbeds. Elegant, robust, and generous, it perfectly embodies the romantic and colorful charm of the English garden .
Flaming spikes and a majestic habit
‘Terracotta’ forms a vigorous clump of deep green, palmate, and graphic foliage, from which in May and June , superb flower stalks 80 to 100 cm high emerge. The flowers, arranged in dense clusters, display a gradient of coppery, orange, and cream tones , evoking the warmth of the setting sun. This spectacular flowering attracts bees, bumblebees, and butterflies , contributing to the life of the garden.
Cultivation and care
Lupinus Westcountry™ ‘Terracotta’ prefers full sun or light partial shade and a light, deep, and well-drained soil , preferably neutral to slightly acidic. It dislikes excess lime and stagnant moisture. Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first year. Remove spent flower stalks to encourage re-blooming and maintain the vigor of the clump. Very hardy (down to -20 °C ), it withstands harsh winters and faithfully returns every year.
