Prepare for unparalleled performance with the Petunia Supertunia Vista® Bubblegum, often dubbed "The Best Petunia. Period."! This award-winning cultivar from Proven Winners is exceptionally vigorous, forming impressive floral masses that can reach up to 60 cm (2 feet) in height and trail over 1.2 meters (4 feet) from your containers. Ideal for landscape beds and large containers, it offers abundant and continuous pink blooms from planting until the heavy autumn frosts.
Features
Foliage: The foliage is green, medium-sized, dense, and attractive, serving as a perfect backdrop for the flowers.
Flowering: Produces a multitude of medium-sized pink flowers that completely cover the plant. Flowering is continuous and exceptionally long, extending from planting until the heavy autumn frosts, with no need to deadhead spent blooms (self-cleaning). It flowers earlier and longer than other petunias, until late autumn in moderate climates.
Light: Prefers full sun (more than 6 hours of direct sun) but tolerates partial shade (4 to 6 hours of direct sun). Maximum sun exposure is essential for optimal performance.
Habit: Its habit is very vigorous, mounding, and trailing (overflowing). It can reach 30 to 60 cm (12 to 24 inches) in height in beds and trail up to 1.2 meters (4 feet) in hanging baskets or planters. It is excellent as a filler and spiller plant.
Growth: This is the most vigorous of the Supertunia Vista® series. It is tall, growing higher and wider than other petunias, quickly filling large areas or big containers.
Humidity: Requires average soil moisture. It is drought-tolerant once established. However, for maximum performance, especially in containers, consistent watering is preferable.
Soil: Adapts well to well-drained, medium-fertility soil.
Temperature: Extremely heat-tolerant, this annual thrives in warm climates. It is very resistant to high temperatures and continues to bloom even in very hot weather.
Watering: Average water needs. It is drought-tolerant. For optimal results, especially in containers, regular watering with a soluble fertilizer is recommended.
Uses
Types of use: Incredibly versatile, it is ideal for landscape beds, large planters, hanging baskets, window boxes, patio containers where it acts as a filler and trailing plant, borders, and as ground cover. It is perfect for creating a "wall-to-wall" effect of pink flowers throughout the season.
Decorative advantages: Its massive and continuous vibrant pink blooms create a spectacular visual impact that catches the eye from afar. Its robustness, disease resistance, and self-cleaning nature make it an always impeccable plant that attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.
Care
Fertilization: An annual application of fertilizer or compost for garden beds, and regular fertilization (e.g., every 1 to 2 weeks) for potted plants, will ensure the best flowering performance.
Pruning: It is not necessary to remove spent blooms as the plant is self-cleaning. You can lightly trim plants with scissors to shape them if desired, or if flowering decreases in very hot weather. This will increase branching and flowering when temperatures cool.
Planting: Space plants 46 to 81 cm (18 to 32 inches) apart to allow for good spread and optimal filling. Plant the root ball at the same level as the soil in the original container. Plant outdoors after all risk of frost has passed, when the soil has warmed up.
